Through his highly personal language he seeks an authentic Greekness, and through his words and style he lets slip a deep sigh for those dark years of the Persecution and the Catastrophe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u00a0\u201cIn the lands of the East there lies a strait, enclosed all around<br \/>\nas though it were a world set apart from the other<\/em><em> world\u2026 <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>over there lies a realm of the imagination, full of peace and gladness&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>everything is small and finely drawn, as if painted with a brush\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>In a word, everything seems like make-believe toys of the imagination, for it is all so beautiful<br \/>\nand such joy<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>does one feel on entering this place<br \/>\nthat, were one to say paradise could be no lovelier, one would be telling no lie<\/em><em>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><em>Fotis Kontoglou<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The performance is based on excerpts from Fotis\u00a0Kontoglou\u2019s\u00a0\u201cAivali,\u00a0My\u00a0Homeland\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>The work \u2013 in the form of a staged reading \u2013 was devised by Olia Lazaridou, Amalia Moutousi and Dafni Rokou and first presented in 2018 to raise funds for the Galilee palliative care unit.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight:
