From 8 December, and every weekend until early January, Stavros Xarchakos will present his own take on the songs of Giorgos Zambetas at Gazarte, together with Haris Alexiou.

The tribute “Zambetas Kata Xarchako” (“Zambetas by Xarchakos”) gives the two popular artists the opportunity to collaborate so closely for the first time.

The composer himself says of the show: “It is a world that, in a juicy and truthful language, chiefly points out the bad habits of our modern Greek life, which have shaped today’s tragic and nightmarish national and social landscape.

On the stage of Gazarte, as a threshold between earth and sky, Giorgos Zambetas will soar overhead, surrounded by a heavenly bouquet of immortal fellow travellers, with unexpected encounters such as that of Jack O’Hara with Kurt Weill, of Thanasis with Edvard Grieg, of the mysterious guy in dark glasses with Dave Brubeck… whose kindred sounds contain all the passion of life.

That passion through which the throbbing, divine Haris, Alexiou the queen, opens up for us the horizons and the souls of the universal city (…)”.
